One
of the greatest contributions to change, during this
last century, has been the internal combustion engine.
The story of the Hepworth's is largely the story of
this revolution. Since 1907 the name Hepworth has been
synonymous with piston manufacturing. Peter was the
fourth generation to go into the family business, founded
by his great-grandfather in 1907. The company developed
the Hepolite piston, famous throughout the world.
In
1977 Peter Hepworth set up a separate organisation
(Peter Hepworth Components) concentrating on specialist
small batch production. In 1993 Peter Hepworth Components
achieved the international standards BS ISO 9002 which
was upgraded in 2002 to ISO 9001:2000.
Another
success story has been achieved with Peter Hepworth
Components now supplying some of Britain's major car
manufacturers, compressor manufacturers, the rail industry,
and the Ministry of Defence.
In
addition the company remains committed to the Classic
Car Market – supplying pistons, pins, rings, cylinder
liners and engine bearings for Rolls-Royce, Bentley,
Aston Martin, Daimler, Jaguar, Bristol and Alvis to
name but a few. The company's huge library of drawings
together with foundry work, modern machining methods
and advanced technology create a product for long life
and engine efficiency.
